Space Cargo Unlimited Awarded €12.5M From EIC Accelerator

Foetz, Luxembourg – June 30th, 2025 — Space Cargo Unlimited is proud to announce its selection by the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator for a €12.5 million blended investment, combining grant and equity funding. This strategic support from the European Commission builds on the confidence already placed in the company by existing investors, including Eurazeo, Expansion, and others.
This milestone marks a significant endorsement of Space Cargo Unlimited’s mission to deliver sovereign, return-capable orbital platforms — designed, built, and operated in Europe, for Europe and the world.

A Vision for Autonomous Microgravity Innovation

From 2015 to 2021, Space Cargo Unlimited undertook two long-duration missions aboard the International Space Station and one suborbital flight as part of its pilot programs in agriculture and viticulture. These pioneering efforts revealed a fundamental constraint in current infrastructure: a lack of autonomous, human-independent payload systems.
In response, the company committed four years ago to develop a new generation of space infrastructure to meet this need. The result: REV1, and its first platform instance, BentoBox.

Accelerating the Future of In-Orbit Research & Manufacturing

With the EIC’s backing, Space Cargo Unlimited is accelerating the development and deployment of BentoBox, a re-entry-capable, modular system that provides a controlled environment for microgravity payloads to operate autonomously. Featuring advanced power, thermal, and data handling subsystems, BentoBox is engineered to empower faster, more effective innovation in orbit.
This platform will serve a growing pipeline of 82 engaged customer projects, across biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, advanced materials, and other industrial sectors.

A European Response to Global Microgravity Needs

As global access to microgravity platforms narrows, Europe’s need for sovereign orbital capabilities becomes ever more urgent. The European Commission’s strategic vision for the space economy reinforces this imperative — and Space Cargo Unlimited is poised to deliver.
With this additional funding, the company is set to roll out frequent, autonomous, and cost-effective missions, aligned with both commercial and institutional demand.

A Message of Thanks

“We are humbled by the trust, thrilled by the support, and energized by the extra means to accomplish our mission,” said Nicolas Gaume, CEO of Space Cargo Unlimited.
The company extends its sincere gratitude to the EIC jury, its investors, and the entire Space Cargo Unlimited team whose dedication and excellence made this achievement possible.Media Contact:
