– A new partnership between Space Cargo Unlimited and COMAT formalizes their joint offering of microgravity services targeting private industry.
– The collaboration leverages Space Cargo Unlimited’s BentoBox orbital platform and COMAT’s expertise and experience to make in-space manufacturing accessible to new industrial players.
Toulouse, France – October 16, 2025 – Space Cargo Unlimited and COMAT announced today their partnership to collaborate on the design, development, and commercialization of in-space manufacturing and science services for private industry. The agreement was signed at COMAT’s new Saturn facility in Toulouse.
The partnership aims to make the unique weightless environment of space accessible to sectors such as materials science, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and advanced manufacturing, by co-developing integrated microgravity solutions tailored for industrial users, offering complete services from equipment design to spaceflight operations.
Space Cargo Unlimited provides a turnkey service for in-space manufacturing, managing the entire mission lifecycle for its clients. Their solution is built around the BentoBox platform, which offers a pressurized and thermally controlled autonomous environment in orbit to operate industrial payloads and return them to Earth.
COMAT, an experienced space equipment manufacturer, will provide extensive engineering and manufacturing capabilities in space systems, mechanical structures, and payload equipment to design and produce high-performance hardware for in-space manufacturing activities.
Through this partnership, the companies will combine their complementary expertise to target terrestrial industries where space-based manufacturing offers a critical edge, enabling advances such as growing ultra-pure crystals, producing advanced materials, and discovering novel biological processes.
Anchored in the Occitanie region, a central hub of the European space industry, this partnership represents a strategic move to build a sovereign in-space manufacturing ecosystem while fostering closer ties between industrial and institutional partners in southern France.
“We began this journey with a vision to open the space frontier for commerce,” said Nicolas Gaume, CEO and Co-Founder of Space Cargo Unlimited.
“To now bring that vision to mature industries, we needed a partner who understands that reliability is as important as revolution. COMAT’s proven track record and deep engineering roots provide the crucial foundation of trust and quality that will convince industrial leaders to take this transformative step with us. Establishing this presence in Occitanie allows Space Cargo Unlimited to build on one of Europe’s strongest industrial ecosystems and work hand in hand with COMAT to bring in-space manufacturing closer to the heart of the region’s economy.”
Ludovic Daudois, CEO of COMAT said “This partnership provides COMAT with dedicated and reliable access to space through a fully customized solution. Leveraging its solid heritage built through numerous high-profile collaborations with CNES, COMAT reaffirms its ambition to play a leading role in the emerging in-orbit services market. By adopting a comprehensive, end-to-end approach – from design to deployment – COMAT positions itself as a key enabler of future space operations. Nicolas’s teams are actively contributing to the development of this still-nascent market, offering a promising new field of applications.”
